I’m in the middle of my degree and worked over the summer. Should I have paid tax?

I won’t earn for the rest of the year and will be under the threshold. Is there any way to not pay the tax upfront? I don’t want to wait until April 2011 to claim it back!
If you are definately not going to have a job after July 2010 (when placement finishes), then you might be able to claim the tax back but I am uncertain about this. When you get your P45 from leaving the job, if you send parts 2 and 3 (I think its those parts), with an overhead letter they may refund it. If not, you'll just have to wait

Thanks, its worth a try I guess. Definately won't be working any more as I plan on travelling in the summer and have saved up money for my 3rd year so I don't have to earn while juggling my disseration. If I earn anything It'll be for a couple of waitressing shifts over xmas/easter which won't earn me enough to go over the £4000 of personal allowence I'll have left.
