Even if you are made redundant, you should receive some redundancy pay, which can be 1 week for every one year in work.

You sign on straight away. This will ease your situation only slightly. Reduce you council tax asap. Get free dental care for being on JSA. Seriously, everyone is in this situation. Working credit will also increase if you partner is working. So make sure you obtain a new form.

Sometimes, it is actually better for people who have children and only one working. You will be surprised how much benefit money increases.

Word of thumb! Phone up! Sounds distressed! Shout the loudest!

Keep on asking, if you need anything.

In this world, the quiet one's are dying out!
Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!

Also, thank you to people who help me out.

Getting onto agencies is a good thing. As is getting hold of the Jobcentre and making a claim when he knows for definite if he's being made redundant. Is his job a normal everyday one or one that needs specialist training? Does he have any other skills that may help him get a new job?
    ** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **
    ** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
    **SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

My advice (with regards to the mortgage) as my job is under threat is to do what I did and convert your mortage to interest only. For a £83k mortgage, our payments are now only £207 a month. It was free to convert. We can continue to overpay up to £500 a month whilst I am working but if the worst comes to the worst we will be able to manage £207.
