i am trying to get a handle on how much gas and elec I am actually using and have taken some readings over the last days.
in 10 days I have used 92.98 kwh og gas using this sum
meter reading total x 2.83 x 1.02264 x 39.25 ~ 3.6 = kwh
I have my gas boiler on for about 2 hours each day. I had central heating on for one hour in this period and used the cooker a few times but nothing prolonged. How does this amount seem ? average? high? low?
I am trying to get some kind of baseline so I dont get a nasty shock when i have my bill but dont really know if this is good or indifferent!
elec over the same time period was 83.4 (guess this is units) this is lighting/pc/tv etc -no tumble drier or anything.
would be good to see how they compare to others

Are you sure you have a Metric gas meter and not an Imperial gas meter?
93kWh in 10 days(about £3) seem extremely low for this time of the year; even 263kWh if it were an Imperial meter would be very good.0 -
how do I know? just looked at the meter. there are 4 numbers and 2 in red and underneath that it says ft 3( tried to super script but it wont) am I doing it wrong? thanks0

It is an Imperial meter. So the calculation is correct. The easy way is to multiply the gas units by 31 to get the approx kWh e,g. 5 gas units = 155kWh.
That means you have only used 3 gas units in 10 days - remarkable.0 -
I apologise- for some reason my workings were wrong. The previous reading was 3491.53 this one was 3499.64 which is 8.11 units. after the calculation it is 255.89 kwh for the 10 days. so is this still good?0

I think 256kWh is very good. about £1 a day.0

great . thank you . at least now I have a bit of a baseline0

I used 141Kwh of gas last week (meters read monday mornings). Gas used for water, hob and heating but heating not used.0

If yours is for 7 days then mine is about the same or thereabouts then. thanks0
