Tesco Voucher Acceptance

The Tescos in Sprowston, Norwich, take coupons happily, but we do go for the disinterested teenage lad, and it works every time!
However...Coupon-mad wrote:I have saved silly amounts sometimes (e.g. getting a £21 bill down to £1.05 - I could have given him more coupons but felt enough was enough and didn't want to end up in a 'minus' situation where he'd have to call over a supervisor...).;) QUOTE]
This takes the biscuit! PLEEEEEESE don't do this or Mr T will change their policy very quickly, then we'll all lose out!0 -
I can't see why Tesco should care how much of your shopping you pay for with vouchers, they can claim the money back and they usually get a few pence handling fee as well.0

Coupon-mad: I work(ed) at a large store and the policy I believe came from head office says that 10% of vouchers should be taken. Other stores don't have to follow this I guess as it's not published information (although a letter from HO can override local policy), the reason for hard fast limits in some areas may be because too many MSEers take the urinal contents and/or the staff can't be bothered to work out 10%!
martinbuckley: Unfair estimation of dis-interested teenage lads.
philldutton: Good point but they have to take measures to stop coupons>products for which they are supposed to be used on. I also imagen the manufacturers must have some sort of policies otherwise they could loose money (i.e. coca-cola may only allow 50%'s worth of vouchers to be claimed against products sold).0 -
I was told last year in Tesco (the day I was banned) that a lot of people at the self scans, scan coupons which brings the total down (obviously) but put ordinary scraps of paper in the slot! They were looking at me as if I might have done it! I can honestly say , hand on heart, that I had never done that and hadn't even heard of it until they told me!
If things like this are going on then it stands to reason that Tesco are going to get p****d off and change their policy. Some stores don't like it when legitimate coupons are handed over but if they're only getting pieces of paper in the coupon slot then whoever is doing it is asking for trouble.
I remember reading on here last year that someone had used lots of coupons and, if I remember it correctly, they had a phone call that night from the store saying that it was not that stores policy and could they not do it again.0 -
That doesn't explain it, igloo.
You could be scanning genuine coupons for items you'd bought, and then not putting them in the box.
It's nothing to do with allowing coupons on things you haven't purchased IMHO.
And they could easily ban coupons on the self scan tills whilst accepting them everywhere else.0 -
My local Tesco will only accept vouchers if you've paid for the item.
Even though I've always bought the items, the SA still tells me I have to buy the item first, which I tell them I already have done!
I only heard about this getting discount off items you haven't bought on here, so tried it once, and it didn't work, so didn't do it again! LOL, i'm a chicken."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0
