Tesco Voucher Acceptance

Is there any policy regarding Tesco accepting money off vouchers.
I visited a store in Norwich a few weeks ago, and any vouchers were accepted without questions.
Today I visited the store at Surrey Quays, and they would not accept a single voucher without purchasing the goods stated on the voucher.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Either they do or they dont, but who decides???????????????

tesco policy is to accept any number of coupons as long as they sell the product.
BUT only one coupon per item -so if you have 2 x 25p goodfellows pizza coupons you can only use 1 per shop. (unless you actually buy 2 pizzas then you can use 2 )
The policy is down to the individual managers at each store - you may find that if there is another supermarket within a sort distance the manager will take your coupons.
Some stores will take as many as you have, others will accept half your bill, others will only take a couple of coupons. It really does vary from store to store.
If im in a tesco Ive never been in before I normally say "Ive got some coupons how many can I use on my shop"
Im very lucky my local tesco take as many as I give them as long as they are all different. i.e 1 x pizza, 1 x chips, 1 x butter etc. They even take sainsburys coupons - the ones which give money off your shops i.e £5 off a £20 spend
Hope this helpsThanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -
Hi,
As the name says, I'm coupon-mad. I've saved loads at Tesco since collecting coupons and have found that not only do different stores say different things, but also different cashiers will accept/not accept coupons.
Over the last 2/3 months I have frequented 2 main local stores (I won't say where) and gradually memorised which cashiers will take loads of coupons, and which ones will not. I just hand over a mixed batch and ask politely if they can scan some coupons for me? Some will say 'one coupon only' in which case I will give them a '£5 off nappies' one (have bought similar on eBay for a pound). You don't have to buy nappies!
The cashiers who'll scan thru' loads are usually men or teenage boys, in my experience - women seem to take their jobs a bit more seriously in general (or am I just saying that because I'm a woman?!). I have saved silly amounts sometimes (e.g. getting a £21 bill down to £1.05 - I could have given him more coupons but felt enough was enough and didn't want to end up in a 'minus' situation where he'd have to call over a supervisor...).;)
I hope that helps!! It's a shame it's not standard policy across all stores (even Asda locally is no longer accepting 10% off your bill in coupons now, this used to be very reliable but now seems to depend on the individual store).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Tesco is rather inconsistent with their voucher acceptance policy. I had an email from Head Office confirming their policy showed it to the supervisor and they still would only accept 2 vouchers.
Never assume you can use your vouchers, I used to go to the same SAs but found that the supervisor would move me to a checkout that had just opened. Also, I used many vouchers and although the supervisor agrees that I can use the non-identical ones she will sometimes just pop over to make sure I am sticking to her rules and not handing over duplicates.
Voucher usage is a BONUS but not an automatic right. If I get to use them fab if I don't then I save them until another time.
Then of course it's actually sourcing vouchers too, I bought some of ebay which did not have a value and were internet printed, my Tesco refused to take them.
I posted this link which is good as they sent me £150.00 (150 x £1.00) worth of vouchers and as they are valid until 31/12/06 I have plenty of time to use them. Here is my original post:

My own tip is always to go to one of the students working on the checkouts, and avoid the grumpy looking middle aged women. You'd think they were giving you the discount out of their own purse!0

in my local Tescos, better not say which one, the ladies that take my vouchers are indeed the middle aged women who believe that as long as it scans I can have the money off.

My Tescos are brilliant with regard to coupons and Im very lucky - very rarely have any problems and if they dont scan and the cashier knows they sell it they will manually enter code (had this with some knorr soup when bar code lines were really close together and scanner couldnt read it )
I never argue if they do happen to refuse a coupon, just try it again next shop.
Always make sure they are in date and never duplicate coupons - if the coupons policy is abused tesco will stop it Im sure.
The cashiers know me so well they very rarely check the dates on mine - I certainly wouldnt abuse this extra bonus I get. I save lots of money with coupons and am always checking this site for bonus money off vouchers - like the daily mail £1.50 off new women mag today (brought a few extra )
Thanks to everyone who posts coupons threadsThanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -

Just avoid me since believe it or not sometimes it's great fun to wind
up customers and be really anal with policies - this tends to only apply
to people who fail to even acknowledge my existance though! I woun't
say where I currently work (since my last day is Sat at this particular
store) just incase anyone wants to come and say hello :P.
As for policy here it's a strict 1 voucher for a product you haven't
brought with a total not exceeding 10% of your total transaction
value... I.e. no 5£ coupons off a £5.5 shop for which you didn't even
buy the named products.
If there vouchers go through on a SAs signin it's likely they will be
retrained if it's an extreme case (in my younger days I accepted
200 somerfield coupons since I didn't know the policy) and then they
woun't do it again!
Also worth noting that vouchers on the self-serve here have to be
taken by an SA and put into the machine using an access key, this
is more to do with the machine loosing vouchers and people putting
blank paper however.0 -
My local store told me today that two weeks ago they stopped accepting any coupons on non-purchased items. There aren't any signs about a change of policy, or anything like that, so I don't know if it's true, and if so if it's store manager's decision or part of a national change.0

I agree with Couponmad about selecting the assistant I choose to scan my items. I try and get students and young people who I hope don't really mind. I also try and be busy after I have handed over the vouchers so they cannot question me on them. Cheeky but it does tend to work.:T Benjamin has won!!! Am soooo proud. Thank you to everyone who agreed my baby was the cutiest. Want to go round and hug everyone who voted, it means so much to me!:A0
