Or we could pool our points and buy a rotating BBQ for Curly!!

According to the reception venue where I am having my wedding this summer it costs £500 for a pig roast so I'm thinking of pig-napping curly. I'll post photos of the hog roast :D - thats the only way Pigsback is going to save me anything

I've received a standard reply from Pigsback in response to my letter. I don't think they even read it properly :(.

I've had my account with them over 5 years, like many people on here, and it was MSE who referred me! I am really pee'd off with Pigsback. Next letter sent (Copy below if you're bored :D). Will it make any difference? Doubt it, but worth a try! - Sue
    Dear 'Member Services',

Firstly, I would ask that you respond to my email personally, rather than just reeling off a standard reply.

If you are unable to answer my questions, then I request that you escalate my complaint please. Thank-you.

You state that "This offer is (? - was?) due to expire on the 24th December 2009". It is not unknown for Pigsback to extend promotions. The error page was showing before that time. (Assumingly an error at your end of things as every member of MSE had exactly the same result). You were still awarding the points. Why would members not think they were entitled to these points?

Quite frankly, your email response is simply not good enough. You have not answered my questions.

I have specific questions which I would like you to answer please.

    1) If it was indeed that case that the offer had expired, then why were you still awarding the points, to quote yourselves, "For some months"?

    2) It is not unknown for Pigsback to extend promotions. Why did you not contact members to advise them that there was an error, instead of allowing them to naively accumulate these points "For some months"?

    3) Why did you not notice that these points were "Being earned" (Your words) for a supposedly expired promotion?

For your convenience, the definition of earned is: "Gained or acquired; especially through merit or as a result of effort or action".

As far as I am concerned, every single member of Pigsback made an effort. You have perhaps made a mistake, which you did not notice "For some months"

    4) Why did you not advise any members that you would be deducting these points?

    5) Why are Pigsback penalising members for their own mistakes?

The thing that most jars with the members to whom I have spoken, is your apparent ineptitude and the way in which you seem to have underhandedly dealt with your possible mistake.

I do understand that mistakes happen. But, when you make a mistake, you should resolve it in the most efficient and amiable way possible. You most definitely do not penalise others for your mistake, or antagonise your client base.

Many members have stayed loyal to the Pigsback brand over the years. I myself have been with you approx. 5 years. Incidentally referred by MSE. This is despite constantly having to wait long periods of time for points to be credited, having to constantly chase points, site errors, being refused points to which they were entitled, rumours of closure, etc, and you reward them by silently siphoning off points which, as far as they are concerned have been justly earned.

I know that you have already responded to several members emails stating the T&Cs on the promotional page, but I have explained why members may have thought that these were not applicable in this instance.

As I said, many companies thrive on trust, and your reputation has plummeted dramatically. Word of mouth, especially on a large reputable site such as MSE can make a huge difference. I notice that more people today have closed their accounts with you.

I implore you to do the right thing by your members here, and try to retain a modicum of trust and respect.

Please re-think your decision on refunding these points.

Again, I would ask that you respond to my email personally, rather than just reeling off a standard reply, and if you are unable to answer my questions then I request that you escalate my complaint please.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Yours faithfully,

Sue.... That is an excellent letter. Very articulate indeed.

I will now keep checking this thread out of curiosity to see what their reply is but as soon as my amazon voucher arrives the account is closed.

Lets just hope it doesn't take months and months. I think it's disgusting the way they have treated their members and hope people certainly vote with their feet!!

For those concerned about the points Chrisvose worked it out when they first started taking them away from people so it would seem the maximum would be 675.

:(Yup, looks like Piggy has realised what's going on.

The link was for the France Guide Advent Calendar which expired 23.12.09, so possibly a maximum of 675pp (135 days x 5pp) to be deducted.

Nothing deducted from my account - yet!

I have told Piggy that if he can't/won't re-instate my points, then he is to close my account and donate the remaining points to charity.
Thanks to everyone on here for all the help over the past few years. It was good whilst it lasted!
