Just wondering if anyone would know if this is a good DVD recorder as I am planning to purchase one soon and I live near this shop so I can just collect rather than getting it delivered

I'm still convinced that dvd with hdd will reduce further in price in the coming months. Having said that this looks like a reasonable price for the lite-on particularly if you can collect and avoid postal costs. There is review of the lite-on here. Note what it says about the firmware upgrade and the multi region hack.

We have a Lite-on, its fantastic! It will record an any media you throw at it, and quality is superb, not one ruined disc!

I note that, although the Panasonic gets rave reviews, there is no DV-in for recording straight from a digital camcorder. This seems like a big handicap to me, but is there another, equally direct method? If so, would it give equal quality?
