Posting to Japan and got it wrong!

I didn't expect to sell the item to someone from Japan and said p&P would be £25. When I went to the post office it was £70!!
I mailed him back explaining. Has he got the right to pay and make me send at the quoted price?
Do I have the right to retract it because im at a loss

Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear but i think you are stuck here. Now they have already won the item you only have a couple of options i'm afraid. You can hope the buyer is a nice guy/girl and see if they would be willing to mutually cancel the sale, or be a bit more devious and not post it and then when they kick off claim it must have been lost in the post (if it's not tracked obviously) ha ha .0

Are you sure its £70? If its sent as small packet it should be cheaper than if its sent as a letter. Have you tried one of the courier firms to see if they are cheaper or one of the online parcel companies to see if they can send it cheaper?
If not your going to have to explain this to the seller and hope they are reasonable. If not your going to have to take whatever they do such as negative or reporting you.0 -
How much is the item as the RM standard options only cover up to £39 of loss anyway, so you would probably be better off with trying to find a courier where you cna get the correct insurance for loss.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Wow, wouldn't want to buy from you!
OP, postage to Japan can be very expensive, even for items that aren't too heavy. My brother lives over there so I too have been stung a couple of times. All I can suggest is that you try to reach an agreement with the buyer or I'm afraid you'll have to suck up the cost if you want to avoid a neg/being reported.0 -
:rotfl:I wouldn't actually do this........... just a bit of cheeky humour.:rotfl:0
