First post on this site so any suggestions would be great....
As the title suggests I have a big birthday at the beginning of Dec and would love to do something special to celebrate e.g a short break away abroad. This would include boyfriend and 18 wk old baby, who will be around 6 months old then. Before baby I took regular trips to the States but my little one wont have the patience of being on a plane for over 8 hours!
Where else could I go...

does it have to be abroad??? won't airports/plane add to stress - and there are some gorgeous places to visit in UK... Lots of people don't know whats on their own doorstep and it saves on travel hassle - but you get to stay somewhere lovely and explore things you don't normally do...
Failing that go to a family friendly country - always hear good things about Italy - and how they love babies and kids! If city break is your thing then Rome or Florence. If relaxing is on the agenda - head to countryside like Tuscany...0 -
I always found travelling with a baby way much easier than when they get older. You should be able to get a bassinet for him to sleep in on the aircraft and he's still under 2 so you don't need to pay for a seat. I would say if you can afford it, go wherever you like. December is a difficult month weather wise but we had fun in Dubai with DS (6-7 hr flight) at that time of year, Oman also looks nice if you want half decent weather. We had some good adventures with DS before he was 2 and before dd came along.
If you want somewhere closer, how about some of the christmas markets around Europe - Germany, Switzerland and Austria could be fun. Bruges also looks nice and you can get the Eurostar if you prefer not to fly.0 -
Center Parcs is amazing for little ones. We first took DD2 when she was 10 weeks old (DD1 was 3) and had a great time. Everywhere is so baby focussed with high chairs, buggy friendly etc and I think you can book babysitters so you can go out for a meal together one night. Swimming pool is fantastic with areas for really small ones and cots etc. The spa is lovely and they do a deal with creche so you de-stress with your OH or you can buy a pass for the whole time you are there and go on your own for an hour while he babysits here and there.
In November it will be very reasonable mid week. We always take our own food and just use the shop for milk, bread mid week and ice creams! Usually eat out for a couple of meals.
Have been to all 4 sites in UK, longleat is very hilly and spread out but the other 3 are all much the same - we love them all !!0 -
Thanx for the replies.
Thinking about a trip abroad because may not get much of a chance when I get back to work and when my son's in school and I want a major treat for myself.
Love the sound of the XMAS markets.:T0 -
I am going to centreparcs for my 30th - there will be about 14 of us ( my baby will be about 8 weeks) I can't wait. We are booking an evening spa in the aqua sana for the girlies and bringing the wii. It sounds like heaven to me.. might sound a bit dull but I will be tired and breast feeding so a night out just wouldn't be right for me. Might pop into Bath for a girly shop too.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0
