Pros and cons of online estate agents?

Has anyone ever used an online estate agent? I discovered there was such a thing yesterday and it sounds like they can save you a tonne of money compared to regular estate agents % fees. They also get you on to all the big portals i.e. Rightmove and Findaproperty that you can't get on as a private seller. They almost sound too good to be true! Are there any downsides to beware of? Obviously you have to show people around yourself, but I don't mind that. Please share your experiences, good or bad!
Thanks

There's been a lot of threads on this topic recently - I note this is your first post, so can I suggest some diligent use of the Search button (between New Posts and Quick Links on the green menu bar) might give you a fair amount of background reading to start with.....
If you don't mind me saying so, your post sounds a little too good to be true, and reads like a sales pitch for an online Estate Agency.0 -

You might just have stemmed a flood of newbies telling us just how great 'XYZ Web Estate Agents' are.0 -
Blimey, what a welcome to the community! I can assure you I have no vested interests. I'm simply about to sell for the first time and wondered whether anyone could share their personal experience - good OR bad as I said - of online estate agents, as I'm a bit dubious of the concept having only come across them yesterday. I'll search the recent threads as you suggest.0

I don't mean to make anyone feel unwelcome, which is why the first advice was encouragement to look at recent threads.
However, having read it again, it still sounds like a pitch (apart from the last sentence). 'fraid so.....0 -
Lol. I can see your point I guess, but I was only trying pre-empt replies about the "facts" I'd found out for myself so that the responses I got told me something new - the downsides that aren't publicised on these companies' websites. Lesson learned... ask about the negatives and not the positives.
Time will prove me an innocent newbie!0
