Barclaycard "you have failed to make the minimum payment" but DD set up and paid?

Hi

I logged into my barclaycard this morning to find a warning on my statements saying the following:

"You have failed to make a minimum payment
Failing to make your minimum payment can mean that you have broked the terms of the credit agreement and could result in us taking legal action against you. It could lead to you having to pay additional costs and make it more difficult for you to obtain credit in future."

The payment of £7.05 was due on 05th October 2009 and I have had a direct debit set up for the last 5 years to pay the minimum amount each month. I made a one off payment on 30th September and expected them to take the direct debit on 05th october which would have taken the balance to zero.

They did not take the direct debit. Is this because of the one off payment I made? I called them and they just told me to ignore the message but I'm a bit worried that they will do something to affect my credit score.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, the effect of a manual payment, when a direct debit is active on your account, varies between lenders, so we all need to make sure we understand what happens to the DD if we make additional payments.

With Barclaycard, if a manual payment is made, regardless of the amount, no money is taken by DD that month.

If the one-off payment you made on 30 September covered the minimum monthly payment due on 5 October, you've kept within your Ts & Cs. Therefore your credit rating would not be affected.
