It mentions two discounts
A direct debit discount - is this applied monthly/quarterly/yearly?
The fixonline discount - is this applied monthly/quarterly/yearly
Just trying to find the best price, if I moved suppliers within a year do I get any discount?

Hi emeraldbugle,
Your total Discount is applied to each quarterly bill, if you did change supplier within a year, you would get the discount as normal each quarter, but you wouldn't get discount on your final bill.
Fixonline also has a cancellation fee of £30.00 for both gas and electricity, or £10.00 for electricity only if you change supplier before the end date.

additional question ... how do E.On calculate direct debit amounts - do they average over the year (which used to be the reason given to have regular DDs to smooth the payments over the year) or do they have a larger DD over winter and smaller in the summer (this is what Npower are now doing and is the reason I checked a comparison site and discovered how uncompetitve by current tarrif is even before they decided to uplift my DD by 40% for the winter!)0

Hi deshepherd :hello:
E.ON try to set the Direct Debit so that you have a zero balance after the winter months when you use the most energy, the payments are calculated to build up a credit to cover the larger winter bills.
Ideally the Direct Debit would remain around the same amount through the year, however, usage can change and if accounts fall in to debit or credit the monthly amount would have to be amended.
Also remember that if you changed to a supplier just before the winter, you wouldn't have built up any credit so the payments might be a bit higher.
Hope this helps a bit.
