hi, i just would like someones opinion im not sure what this buyer is wanting........................
i sold a used item listed as used ect, with a starting price of 99p, anyway it sold to a overseas buyer who eventually paid after asking for the total price 3 times ( not sure if they wanted the postage reducing). i have had a message today saying they think the item was expensive and a cheaper price would of been correct!!!!!!, they have not asked for a refund in full or a partial one and i didnt make them bid up to their winning bid. they bought 4 items in total but it is only this 1 item that they have queried?
what would you do? i think im risking 4 negs.......... also if they mark me low on my stars for all 4 items thats going to affect my account too!!

i know its frustrating, especially if the buyer thought the item was expensive, then why did they bid?,etc. i think i would just ride it out and see what happens, if you do end up with neg feedback that you think is unfair, you can always take it up with ebay. keep the emails from the buyer, and at the end of the day, when they placed a bid on your items, they were entering a contract to pay for your items. hth!

Personally I would act a little dumb and basically call their bluff.
Say that you are sorry they feel they over bid on the item but that of course you would be happy to offer a refund of the original item cost if they wish to return it to you. Give them your home address for return and ask them to confirm by xx date that item is being returned.
Do a bit of grovelling, something like at end of email 'again apologies that you feel you have over bid for this item, but please be assured that the item cost refund will be made as soon as I have the item back'.
They don't really want a refund but you might shame them into being reasonable about this.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Passive-aggressive hinting with a touch of blackmail. Nice! I hate it when a bully hasn't even got the guts to flat out state that they have you by the ***** and you'd better co-operate.0

Just another thought, did you charge actual postage or actual postage + packing costs? Maybe it was the postage they were querying.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i combined postage on all four items i had them weighed at the p/o and just charged 50p for the postage bag, i think they were unhappy because it was signed for on delivery but i do state on my listings that everything i post is sent that way, they asked for it to be sent overseas, then gave me an adress in london (which they had added to their paypal)and then changed it back to their original adress again so after all this messing around i had a feeling this wouldnt be a smooth transaction.0

In that case they are probably moaning about the postal charges, it is not usual for small items to be sent tracked and it probably made the post look very expensive compared to other sellers. However it is of course the fault of the buyer for not checking first, but that won't help when it comes to leaving stars and feedback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i do agree with what you said (soolin) about it being unusual for small items to be tracked, it is just something i like to do to be on the safe side? Again though i do state it in listings so it then becomes the bidders choice. It annoys me lots when people don't ask first for the postal cost, especially overseas bidders as that is an extra £3+ as you'll probably know. The thing with this item is like i said before is was combined with 3 other items which finished over a 2 day period (non of which i was asked postage cost for) and it totalled £40+ with postage weight only (no packaging) coming to £13+. I definately wouldn't be happy sending that standard delivery as then i'm pretty much asking for big loss, especially as i already had my suspicions regarding the changing of delivery adresses?!0

All standard airmail (and that includes the signed for options) though only covers up to £39 of loss and International signed for does not guarantee a signature so unless it does track online you would still lose a paypal claim.
Out of interest, does the item track to a signature?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i didn't realise that it didn't guarantee a signature? i thought that was the point of "signed for"
? sorry i didn't mention it before, i did actually pay extra for the insurance due to the reason you stated. Going back though, surely she can't claim for that as it isn't the problem, she's already told me she's got it? Thanks. 0 -
Frankly I think RM are misleading with their explanation as to the overseas signed for services. The headline news states this is fully tracked, but when you read the actual terms and conditions they say the following:
International signed for :

All items are tracked until they leave the UK – and in some cases on arrival in the destination country. Check the progress of your item online until it reaches the destination country’s postal service as a registered item.
Airsure
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400033&mediaId=400034&keyname=AIRSURE
We track all Airsure® items until they leave the UK and then the item is handed over to the destination country's postal service as a priority item. In most circumstances you will also be able to get electronic confirmation of delivery via Track & Trace.
Both htose explanations do not say to me that these items are fully tracked. It is also worth rememberign that for items over £150 the signature must actually be viewable online as well, the tracking alone showing delivery is not sufficient.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
