Hi,

I'm looking at a house to buy which has gas in the road but not to the house. I've flicked around the Centrica and British Gas websites but can't see the answer there.

I just need an estimated guess to see if it's a dealbreaker or not?

also if anyone has any idea what it would cost to then put gas central heating in - radiators the whole shebang, that would be great too.

many thanks

it's in Thatcham/Newbury. It's a 1980s house so i am really surprised that the owner had electric night storage heaters put in. I would have thought that the other houses all have it as it's a modern estate.

    it's a 3 bed link detached.

    many thanks

Hi the company you need to contact is Southern Gas Networks, they cover the Thatcham area. www.sgn.co.uk or 0845 070 1431.

The minimum charge for a new gas service is £673, thats is dependent upon several factors. Phone them more more details and an application pack.

As for the cost of a full central heating system I'd have thought at least £3000, others on here may be able to suggest otherwise. I dont fit central heating for a living so I dont really know the going rate.
