I have just developed a problem with printing on my Brother laser printer. All the pages I print are coming out very dark, like a photo negitive. Anyone any ideas how to solve this, please.

just been reading on http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/
it says that some brother printer use the toner bottle to collect the waste toner as well. not sure if this applies to your model but might be worth a while looking at the site0 -
I have contacted Brother CS and they inform me that the Drum needs replacing. It is cheaper to buy a new Laser printer.0

Most Brother laser printers need a drum replacement for every 3 toner catridge replacements. Good thing is, this makes the toner replacement cheaper compared to other brand like HP which has drum & catridge built into one unit. Bad thing is, it seems more expensive to replace the drum since it will cost you at least 3/4 the price of a new printer.0

Thanks for the info. As I only use 30 or so pages a week, what should I replace the printer with. Another BW laser or a colour inkjet? Any advice welcomed0 -
I will say, go for another b&w laser printer .. there is a thread in Grabbit forum on Brother HL-2040 for £34.50 .. or go for Samsung ML-1610 .. around £50 at Staple.0

I have had a Brother Laser for 4 years, (company pay for the consumables) both my children have Samsung lasers, all of them are good, not had any issues with misfeeds etc.
If you change to ink jet you will really notice the increase in costs.0
