trust deed query

Hi hope someone is able to answer a couple of querys I have regarding my partner's trust deed. It has now lasted over 5 years and has been passed to a legal firm for recovery from the accountants as we were unable to meet the monthly repayments due to unemployment, accident, hospital stays and operations, unexpected pregnancy, family death, etc. The legal firm will send me a letter now and again asking for payment and i will pay them what i can at the time, but haven't paid them for a few months now. My partner and i are only just getting on our feet as only he is able to work as I suffer from depression. He has only been back in work for the last year and a bit and it has taken us this long to get things kind of on the level again with paying bills etc. We still struggle actually, I have to use a credit card for day to day expenses. Anyway enough of the sob story, I just want to know, what happens after 6 years? Does it get written off or will they continue to want payments until the outstanding amount agreed by the trust deed is paid off? I'm just not sure how it works. My partner has no assets as everything is in my name including the mortgage, car, all he has in his name is car insurance. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
