on hold post now?

after having 2 recent dispute closed and me being the winner of both paypal have now decided that they will keep a hold of every payment i receive for up to 21 days.unless the buyer leaves good feedback.
if the buyer opens a dispute they will refund the buyer thier money.

is this just a coincedence that ive had 2 disputes recently or is this happening across the board. every payment they hold they send me an email saying that i must post the item now and the generic gubbins about how this is supposed to make ebay and paypal safer for everyone.
but i cant see how its safer for me.it means (and im only going on what the emails say) that i now dont have the cover of a dispute and me being able to provide proof of the buyer receiving thier item,it seems they will just refund straight away.

any advice on this or anyone else had this?

    It's perfectly normal:
Your payments will not be held if you have received more than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs) in the past 12 months and your DSR average is 4.5 or higher.
Why might my payments be held?

PayPal will hold payments in transactions where the vast majority of seller fraud occurs. Here are the most common instances in which a payment may be held:
    • You have been on eBay less than six months and sell an item above £50.
    • You have a feedback score of less than 98% and sell an item above £50.
    • More than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*.
    • You have an average Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) of 4.5 or less.
    • You have received less than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings.
    • You are listing your item in a higher-risk category.
It isn't actually to protect you or the buyer as you've worked out, but to protect paypal. I don't think it has anything to do with your recent disputes though, unless you don't fall into any of the categories above.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

If your DSRs are that bad you need to do some serious work. You are in danger of being placed lower in searches due to low DSRs

i know, but unfortunatly when i started ebay it was still in its original format, you know people selling stuff they no longer need at a hobby level.
even although i note on my dispatch times honestly that it might be 3 days before the item gets to them it doesnt matter as buyers dont notice this when they bid,and dont use this to measure my service. if they dont have it within a day or 2 all hell breaks loose.they think im amazon or play.com.
i dont ebay full time, its a hobby that sometimes creates a few extra quid.
i have a job that takes up a lot of my time and getting to a post office during the day can be a nightmare, but i do try.

im quite happy to move with the times, but i would be happier if buyers actually read full details of auctions and understood them and that i dont make a living from this. and the recent postal strikes havent helped much either, ive had loads go missing.

Many of us here don't ship every day and most sellers I work with still manage to keep their DSRs are 4.8 and above. I use second class postage on all my items (buisness and personal), no 1st class no recorded and my private account has just gone up to 4.9 for despatch with everything else at 4.8. My main business account is still 4.8 across the board. You need a consistently high percentage of buyers to start leaving poor stars before you really hit your headline totals. What's your expanded seller dashboard like, are you in danger yet of lowered status?

I dispatch within 2 days normally 2nd class and my DSR for dispatch time is 4.9. Do you contact your customers. If I don't dispatch till day 2 I normally email stating it has been sent and the method and that it has been sent within 2days as listed etc. Not sure if that helps buyer expectations but its worked for me for years. I know as a buyer if i'm informed i'm less likely to get my expectations of delivery to high

I help a lot of people with their ebay accounts and I mentioned stars to a couple of them and they consider my 4.8 stars across the board to be not so good and thought that I should add another post to say that even my 4.8 are lower than average as most of them try to keep at 4.9, one of them even still has a couple of 5*.

I thought I was doing OK as well :(

maybe its the type of buyer i attract?
i always send my stuff 1st class, but recently everythings been 1st class recorded due to lots going missing.
i dont send any personal emails to my buyers, just the invoice or whatever generic stuff ebay spit out at them. maybe i could try sending emails to them letting them know whats happening. maybe its just me,i dont really care if the seller emails me,infact i would rather they didnt unless there was a problem, ive researched them by reading thier feedback i usually know the item i want to buy as ive researched that aswell so there is nothing more i want to know from the seller, if there is i would have sent a question before buying thier product. if i needed the item in a real rush then i would have also asked for it to be sent rapidly. but as long as i get my item in a reasonable time frame i.e within 2 weeks* then i will always leave 5 stars for folk i buy from.

( * i never leave any of my sold items that long to post!)

I have now even seen an account with 5 * 5 * 4.9 * and 5 * all for second class items sent day after purchase. That particular account sells mainly clothes and beauty items and are registered as a business.

I can't see anything different in their business model than in mine (although I did note that their compliance with business selling is not perfect but that obviously has not upset buyers).
