How do you find your wedding suppliers/products?

Hi there
I was just wondering how people found their wedding suppliers/products? When I got wed I mainly relied on wedding fairs and the yellow pages. I have a new wedding accessories online shop and also do balloon decorating, and am just debating whether to spend the money on doing a local wedding fair when I launch it in the new year.
Thanks

I haven't picked up a Yellow pages in years and I've not been to a wedding fayre and I'm almost done with everything for my wedding in just unde a years time.
I look here, eBay, or Google what I'm looking for and so far I've found everything I need.
I suppose you could enquire local to you how much for a stall at a wedding fayre?

Yes, I think I am a bit outdated, as I got married 7 years ago! If I were getting married now, I think I would look in different places.
But yes, I will enquire about prices, but I think they tend to be expensive.
I sell lots of different accessories, balloons, bubbles, confetti etc etc. I am working hard on my website at the moment to research what products to stock.
Thanks for your help!£11,000 in 2011

We found lots on ebay, some by googling what we were looking for and some by recommendation on here!
We only went to one wedding fair, but found it interesting, we didn't want any 'hard sell' but really liked the stalls which had leaflets/info to take away as we could then think about it/look at their website at our leisure.
Also - if you're doing publicity/info/leaflets - advertise to the civil partnership market too - it's an under catered for part of the market! (we always appreciate someone who knows we exist!)"Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0 -

Do you mind PMing me with a link to your site please? There's nothing better for business than word of mouth!joolesw1972 wrote: »We found lots on ebay, some by googling what we were looking for and some by recommendation on here!

Aww Jooles, it never even occured to me that you get overlooked when it comes to weddings!
Had to laugh, a few years ago I was filling in an online form and it asked me for my marital status. I ticked the box for civil partnership as I thought, well OH is my partner and we are civil to one another, I'd never heard of the term before:rotfl::rotfl:

I searched online for all of my stuff using just google or www.yell.com for finding things which had to be close to the venue.Quite a few of my final choices have been as a result of recommendations and phone numbers given to me when the original person didnt have my date available.
Never been to a wedding fair either,in fact I wanted to avoid them so I didnt get ideas on how to spend even more money."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

We are a bit - it's not too bad, but it's really nice when suppliers include that they do civil partnerships too! When I've emailed photographers etc I've specificly asked if they are happy to photgraph a same sex couple - not everyone is as open minded as you would hope and I'd rather be up front and get someone who isn't going to be uncomfortable! (not that we're going to do anything weird or unusual!!! That would really freak my Dad out!!!) It can be a bit disapointing to talk to a venue or supplier and be very clear you are talking about a civil partnership - then get info posted out that congratulates Miss W and your husband to be!

Thanks - that made me chuckle!! Bet you're not the first or the last!!! - Can't wait til I can tick that box!!!
Would just like to say that I've been made very welcome on these boards and the people on here are kind, helpful and FAB!"Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0 -

Oh that's pants! I know they probably just work of a template, but it's about time they got with the program and realised that weddings aren't just for a male and female couple!
I bumped into an old friend of mine earlier this year and she had a little boy with her. I said "aww he's gorgeous, is he yours?" and she said "no, he's ours" and a girl popped her head out behind her. Learnt that they had got married (their pics on facebook are lovely!!) and they are a proper little family now. To be honest, I never even batted an eyelid when I realised ~ so long as people are happy, who cares what their sexuality is! xxxTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I would never buy from a fayre, purely get ideas, which I have done.
To me they seem overpriced, pushy and just not what I need. There may be brides that swear by them, but for me, browsing and looking online is relaxing, easy and well there is so much variety.
I think if you have a good internet/ebay presence you will be fine.

PS please can I have a linky too, am INTRIGUED lol0 -
Funny you should mention this - we went to three wedding fairs at the weekend and we found our venue dresser at one of them. We're ordering our centrepieces, chaircovers and top table swag from her. There was no hard sell and she was flexible. I hadn't found her online before when looking for chair covers and previosly we were going to do our own table centrepieces. The price she has given us to hire and set up was the same price as DIY.
That said, most of the stuff we saw yesterday was to get ideas on what we like. Oh, and to get free samples of cake!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
