  • Have you spoken to them? Made arrangements to pay? I got in a mess a few years back and they installed a prepayment meter for me to pay off the debt, it was done before it got to court though.

I go nothing until today - hence my shock and anger!

The last payment i made was in July for £50, prior to that £170 in May

If you can attend court, i would do so.

That will prob be your only defense, to stand in front of the judge and answer the questions.

Then he can rule on it. If you go, and explain all. I think you will win and they will be denied.

I am unsure which court though, it could be northampton.

Don't let it go to court, call scottish power and set up an agreed payment plan to cover your ongoing usage and debt over a reasonable period of time such as 3 or 6 months. If you cannot agree you need to arrange to have a prepayment meter installed. If you do not agree they will get a warrant and install a prepay meter, they will break in if need be, you do not want this to happen as there will be about £2-300 added to the debt.

That is most unusual. Simply ring them and arrange/offer to pay via a prepayment meter. Ensure you are in when they come to fit it. So many people put off and avoid and then get upset when a man comes with a warrant and cuts them off /forces entry if they are not in.
