Firefox plug in problem

When I open some webpages in firefox it says to install a plug in to display part of the page. When I click on the "intall plug in " it searches and tells me to install Macromedia flash 7. When I try and do this it sits for hours with the "installing plug in" box open. How come it has so much trouble doing this?

I had the same problem
rather than going throgh firefox's install plugins system, try downloading it here, saving it to the computer first (make sure you follow the link via firefox or it'll give you the IE version)
edit:
might help if you also close firefox before installing0 -
