Apparently it's two for £12 at Asda on the Disney dvd's in their promotion. Serves HMV, Amazon etc right if everyone gets their dvd's there instead of online.

Funnily enough I was just looking at Asda. They currently have a boxed set of HSM 1, 2 and 3 for £11.43 but if you get the normal HSM3 it's £12.75. Strange:confused:.

I Have just got two brilliant bargains - a coat I have had my eye on for well over a month suddenly had £20 knocked off it and a jumper I wanted that was £40 was reduced to £25 in the sale. With a money off voucher from on here and store delivery, I got it for £21. Brilliant.
  • i know its annoying when you miss out. i need to get 2 stair gates cos my little boy is now walking. cheapest was toysrus at £16.99 and amazon at £16.99. that was couple of days ago, sun i think. went on today, up to £21+ on toys rus. amazon still same price. right i'll get those later i thought. went back on this afternoon back up to £19.99 on amazon!!! lol still a saving though

disney dvds always go bogof at hmv (and at disney stores) near xmas, just like 'friends' dvds always do. (or did - i think everyone has them now)

I think there's some little man sat in a dark office checking which items I look at and then pressing a button to treble the price as soon as I log off:think:.

Actually you're closer to the truth than you realise! On Amazon, they monitor what everybody clicks on, and if a particular item get's loads of views, they assume it's popular and the price goes up! It's probably the same for HMV and other big online stores as well!

Money Grabber is correct - Amazon have software that identifies popular products and adjusts the price upwards. That is why you can get something that is a real bargain say £2, and a couple of hours later it is back up to rrp at £10. I have seen this dozens of times with everything from Heeleys to Birkenstocks to dvds and games.

I think the Disney dvd thing is planned though, to maintain their profit margin. HMV have another annoying thing of having stuff at different prices in the shop - we once saw a dvd at 3 different prices (same edition).

I have noticed that with Asda, I ordered the Shameless complete series boxset for £17 a while ago but the individual dvd's were £13.99 each so the boxset was a bargain.

  • The day that the chain stores start pricing their stock realistically (rather than dropping the price, putting it up 60% and then offering a 'huge 50% off') will be the day that I might go back and consider buying from them.

These days, it just seems like HMV is constantly yo-yo'ing prices up and down in the hopes that people actually 'believe' they are getting a bargain, when in reality they're still probably charging more than most online retailers standard prices.
