Postage issues

I come to the board seeking help.
I recently sold and item and buyer duly paid (fairly newbie buyer). Item sent out. Item gets returned to me (seems buyer not in, so note left for buyer to collect item or re-arrange delivery, however buyer didn't contact PO).
Buyer emails me saying where is item. I explain its got sent back to me.
Buyer asks me to resend item.
The issue is I've already made a loss on the item, and will have to pay another set of postage charges to resend.
Now, what is my position? Can I ask for buyer to pay for the extra postage costs?
Thanks

In reality the cost won't be a great deal. Postage will be under £2. My original view was, as you have suggested, just send it out again and not bother with asking for any more money. However situation is I bought the item for £4, sold it on ebay for £1.50. As you can see already a loss there!!

Before re-sending I'd claify what happened the first time. Afterall you want to make sure that the parcel is delivered successfully this time round. Eg, did they get the card, but just couldn't be bothered to go and collect it.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

That you sold for a loss is not your buyers problem so thats irrelevant. Like the other posters said you need to find out what happened at the buyers end. I'd ask the buyer if a card was left by postie, if they reply yes but they didn't go and fetch it then I would say they pay to re-send the item. If a card wasn't left then I'm not really much help here I'm afraid. Maybe you could phone RM and ask about getting the return postage paid by them as it wasn't your fault neither your buyers fault. Failing that I'd ask the buyer to go halves or bear the cost myself in the hope of good feedback.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
