As the title says........
I have cut back my spending so much and for so long now, that i feel im just a complete miser!!
I find myself reading the "What have you spent today" thread daily and thinking......."You actually spent money on THAT??"
Im at a point where as well as clearing the debts, i actually, for the first time in my life.....have some savings!! I get such a buzz from watching the debts go down and the savings go up that i am really gutted if i have to put my hand in my purse and pay for anything!!
Does anyone else feel like this, or am i just a complete miser/skinflint/tightwad????

No Im exactly the same. Spent 61p on a bag of crisps and nearly had a heart attack. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

If it begins to get you down. Think back to when you did not know which way to turn.
The feeling will soon go away.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I had palpitations yesterday when I spent £25 on two pairs of jeans, it was my biggest retail, purchase in about 5 months!Light bulb moment 04/05 with a debt of £5,800. DFD: 07/05/2006. Student loan (finally) paid off 30/06/08.
2016 - 10 years debt free!!!!

coffeeandfags, BTW that could be my name too.
I didn't start off in debt just that I know sometime soon my savings will be gone and I'll be in financial trouble, so for me it was reading this site and realising I couldn't go on spending (not silly spending) as I was.
I now think three times before I buy things I feel I don't need, I don't go out so much so as not to spend and buy cheaper versions of things, use cheaper shops, search the sale rails etc etc
My family are still earning and most friends too so I do FEEL like a miser sometimes.:D
Good for you that your debt's gone down and savings are up:j :jWomen and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)
Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.

I love being a miser! It makes you reflect upon how much you actually can afford and makes you realise that we aren't a complete society of upper middle class people - so why are we spending like it?!!
I see so many people that are on incomes of less than £20000 pa spending more than my parents who earn a very comfortable income (but are still as sensible with their money as when they were a one very low income family) and I just think - who are you kidding?£4000 challenge

Ok, glad its not just me then! lol
Lynzpower.........OMG i would have a heart attack at spending 30p on an unnecessary packet of crisps.......61p just wouldnt happen lol!!
Atomicspaceship........ i know how you feel, i havent bought any new clothes for approx. a year apart from some charity shop bargains. £25 for jeans would put me in to deep depression!!
Needmoney........ yep, im the same, think about it and think again do i really need it before buying.....and thats just loo roll!! lol
Nicola.......i love it too but scared that im miserly to the point that any of my kids might suffer!
Ariba....... thanks for the advice i WILL try and use it!!0 -
If you are saving then your kids won't suffer. When your first child wants to go to uni and your savings prevent them from getting into horrific debt, you'll realise they didn't suffer. So they don't get the latest toys all the time - we don't give OH's son all the latest toys, his clothes are bought on ebay and we give him Aldi brand fruit shoots. I'll do the same for my own child too. What's important is their adult future, spend money on the kids where it's important, education and their growth.£4000 challenge

Yep miser and nasty mammy I bought cheap yoghurts, cheap bacon and still complained it cost too much as my 4 year old screamed. He will have to suffer tesco's own for a while it won't kill him!Barclaycard 3800

No, being a miser is the other extreme and not good for you, i think a middle course is best.0

I was thinking about this the other day. I've started scrutinizing EVERY penny I spend. Went to the local supermarket the other day to buy some food (for packed lunches!) and my OH (doesn't live with me) kept putting things in my basket and I ended up spending £12 rather than the £5 I had budgeted for! I was starting to get angry and everything even though he always pays his way! In the end, i noticed he had sneaked a tenner into my purse though so it was all good.
Does everyone think they will be the same when they are debt free? Was debt free... then went travelling!0
