Help! Curved kitchen worktops

Hello
Have just had our new kitchen deivered from B&Q and there is a problem! We have ordered a Cooke and Lewis kitchen which has a curved units at the end of what used to be a breakfast bar. We really wanted granite but ust couldn't justify the huge difference in price so went for walnut butchers block laminate instead.
Only now I realise that this laminate doesn't come pre curved (only 2 colours do) and people in the trade have said that it is very difficult to cut laminate in a large curve like that. I want a good finish (ideally not cut with an edging strip)and thats what you will see as soon as you go in the kitchen.
I feel really annoyed that the B&Q designer didn't mention this as I feel that we now have a kitchen and worktops that we can't use.
Not sure what to do now as I really like the kitchen but don't feel like we could afford to spend loads extra on real wood or granite.
Any thoughts or solutions gratefully received as we have a fitter booked for a couple of weeks.
Thanks

Could you make the breakfast bar a feature in contrasting granite/real wood, this would be small and not gost a huge amount if you could get a local firm to do it, perhaps they might even be able to do it with an ofcut?0

Thanks for your idea but don't think it would work as the worktop that needs the curved end is quite long and I don't think it would work being a different material.0

if your on a budget then the edging strip is the answer.
a pro can do a very good job of edging.Get some gorm.0 -
I cant seem to find a picture I had seen before that came to mind.
It may look totally daft tho
My only other idea was to edge it with metal (actual metal and not stick metal effect) or something as I agree the stick on edging might not show it off.
Will take alot of abuse and hopefully still look as good as new.0 -
Have a look for real wood on the internet. probably wont be loads more than the b and poo laminate worktops. will look loads better and b&q laminate is very bad quality anyways.0

Hi,
thanks for your ideas. Not sure if I really like the idea of edging with metal as I just wanted it to look quite minimal and modern - white gloss units, wood effect worktop and probably white tiles.
I need 3x 3metre worktops and 1x 2metre breakfast bar (the one to be curved). Cost £365 from B&Q and I had 20% off that price at the time I ordered.
Anyone know any good websites/places for real wood at a reasonable price? We are in South West Surrey.

Try a search for wooden worktops surrey.
OR go to www.diy-kitchens.com and look at the Second Nature range. Very good quality for the money0 -
I've curved the end and used the iron on edging before and it looked perfectly acceptable.
if done properly and carefully it's your best solution.0 -
I got my walnut worktop from barncrest.co.uk. They are based in Cornwall but their delivery charge was very reasonable and I am pleased with it. We too live in Surrey. I have had the end of my breakfast bar cut into a curved shape and it looks lovely.0

Just to give you a ballpark price for granite to cover that lot we could supply the material in Kashmir White, Black Pearl or Steel Grey Granite for approximately £700 Incl vat. Fitting would cost about the same again.
These are lower cost granites (don't assume lower quality, they are just more abundant).
At your budget you'll probably find a decent wood top to be better, they may well cost as much as granite but the installation costs will be much less.0
