Payment methods - ebay

Me again.....gosh I knew there was a reason I gave up using ebay!
OH is selling his motorbike, assuming it hits reserve price, he has asked for a small deposit (£200) via paypal within 24 hours to secure and the remainder to be paid via cash or bankers draft upon collection.
Now, having read bits on here (which he should've done first!), I'm wondering if OH has done the right thing.
Firstly, how do we go about just taking the required deposit? What we don't want is someone trying to pay the whole amount on paypal.
Secondly, what is our best course of action from now
Many thanks
LM

I'd say do a whole cash on collection. You will already have their address when the buyer buys it, and stipulate that it needs to be picked up within 3 days or something like that.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Have to offer Paypal as payment option, no other choice. In using eBay you agree to do that. Could ask you preferred Cash on Collection, but Paypal must be offered.
This could differ for vehicles . . . Maybe?0 -
As far as I understand it you do not have to offer paypal in
motors. So go for cash as bankers drafts can be forged0 -

The Cars and motoring section are exempt from the paypal requirements, so seller should only take cash on collection for this.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin,
OH (the seller) has already put in a request for a deposit to be paid by paypal in the item description with the remainder to be paid in cash on collection.
Should he now just ask solely for cash on collection at the end of the auction?

Paypal and deposits are always tricky. Personally I would take a paypal deposit if that is what OP wants but refund it on collection and take the amount in cash instead.
The buyer can reclaim the deposit regardless of what seller does anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
