Is it really worth it ???

Now he's gone and I'm waiting to swith, I've started looking @gocompare, money supermarket etc. Now it looks to me that based on my cosumption I could be better off with EDF, Scottish Power or should just not bother with the hassle and stay where I am. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I'm beggining to wander wether all this hassle of finding a new supplier is really worth it? I'm currently with Britich Gas, but am in the process of changing to Southern. Like a sucker signed up with door to door sales rep, who promised & promised me they would be cheaper.

it's a complete mess and the whole thing is totally confusing to the majority of the general public.
we have to deal with all these different providers and tarrifs as well as the fluctuating energy costs.
don't give up and just stay where you are these providers are greedy and reliant on the public paying through the nose.
see what information the price comparrison sites need to provide the most accurate quote and ask your demand your existing provider to give you this information if you do not have this info to hand (request it by email to save the phonecall)
good luck and don't give up :money:0 -
I have been with Southern for years but energy helpline reckoned I would save quite a lot by going to British gas! So that is what have done. To be honest, I have not found Southern to be very satisfactory.0

Well you didn't really think a SSE salesperson would try and sell you an EDF, SP or BG product did you?
How long ago did you sign up? You should have already, or will be shortly receiving, a welcome pack from SSE giving you notice that you have the write to cancel the whole thing under the cooling off procedure."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
You have my sympathy, we had the door to door sales reps for scottish power round the other day. They were talking to DH, I was in the next room listening, and they make a very convincing pitch. They were pretty aggressive and tried to tell us that our current supplier were ripping us off. They even rubbished all comparison sites!
DH was pretty glad of the opportunity to say he'd have to check with the wife before signing up I think, otherwise they would probably have talked him into it!
I told him that I wasn't prepared to sign up for anything on the doorstep. When DH passed this on the salesman made out that DH was questionning his honesty and integrity.
When they left all we had was some scribbles on a statement, no actual paperwork detailing what they were offering so we could consider it and sign up later if we wanted to.
I really resent the tactics that they use. Tariffs are complex enough without having high pressure sales techniques employed at the same time. I really think that there should be more transparency and ease of comparison between suppliers.
Cancel within the cooling off period and change to whoever the comparison sites say are best for you.0 -
I think there's only about £30 difference over the year anyway, not worth the hassle IMO.
Better off investing a bit of time plannning your fuel-saving strrategy. Like thermal linings on curtain, batch cooking, lagging the loft etc.
A good way of saving is to go spend a whole day touring the museums and galleries, they're free and a good day out - take your own sarniesI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
