3W Light Bulbs - Any Experience
Hi,
We're having some work done and part of it is to change the lightening to make the house as bright as possible for OH who is registered blind. My electrician read about Philip's new 3W LED bulbs which give the equivalent light of 35W bulb. These bulbs cost between £20 and £25 pounds each and we'll need probably a minimum of 50 for the areas involved...maybe more.
Has anyone used these yet and any feedback on the quality of light or whether or not the bulbs live up to their 15yr average lifespan?
Many thanks

I tried an LED replacement bulb in amongst the GU10 50Watt downlighters in our bathroom.
Not a succes as the light clour is Blue and the light is focused like a searchlight. However I've read that there is a new generation of LED's coming to market and I suspect the recommended £20 - £30 bulb is one of these. My advice would be to buy just one, and then if you happy with it's performance, trawl the internet for a better price.0 -
I believe these are the new high perf ones with white light. They were highly recommended in the Guardian 1010 (?) piece which the electrician had been following. Philips guide price is £25 a bulb but the wholesalers are currently £20. However no-one ever seems to have actually seen one in real life so brave new world.
We'll order a couple and see what brightness they give...I'm very confused about this inchanging between wattage and light (lux). Is there a direct correlation between the two or does manufacturer etc make a difference?:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
