Why do (some) sellers not check their messages?

maybe the seller has been at work all day and then had other things to do after work! not everyones life revolves around ebay.0

You can answer messages, you just can't post them to the listing- your buyer will still get the message, it just won't show up on the listing for everyone elseitsnotfair wrote: »Has the item got any bids on? If so sellers cannot reply to a message sent through ebay regarding an item within 12 hours of the finish if a bid is on it.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

this is true i have answered loads of questions before right upto the last minute of auction ending.JustLittleOldMe wrote: »Really?? I think you've got that a bit wrong! You cant edit the listing with less than 12 hours if theres a bid. But you can answer questions any time!
as a seller i do keep checking my messages but maybe something has come up and this seller couldn't. i've also sent messages near to end of auction and had no reply.....it can be annoyinghave now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0 -
If i list items i do it when i know i have the time to write my listings out properly putting all the relevant information in and taking good pictures, It makes all the difference to the sale price of the item.
If i'm working i'll try and get a family member to check for messages on the day of ending but again if i'm listing something i'll try and end it on the day am off work. I love the buzz you get the last few seconds of the auction

Sorry, a bit of a rant:
I've had my eye on a top that is a factory second. In the description, the seller states that the top has been 'repaired', with no further details on how it has been repaired. I messaged them this morning asking them to elaborate a little- no reply. Fair enough, not everyone lives at their computer. Five hours later, still no reply and the auction ends in an hour.
I don't think I'm being unreasonable in expecting sellers to check for any questions from potential customers on the day that one of their auctions is due to end, particularly when they've given such a vague description. Oh well. If they don't get back to me soon I guess I will miss out.
Is it a business or private seller? As a business seller myself I often get in to the office on a Monday morning to find three messages from someone, the first at 9pm Sunday night, the next at 9.05pm "Why haven't you answered my question???" and the third at 9.06pm "I'm going to buy this just so I can leave you negative feedback for your rubbish communications!!!" It really makes Monday mornings such a joy  Even eBay sellers deserve a weekend, you know....A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone - Thoreau0 -
Thats a horrible message, i'd send one back saying someone has been ill or something make them feel really guilty. Buisness seller doesnt mean your sat at your computer 24/7. Some people:mad:New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.

Perhaps. My comment was not directed at you, apologies if it seemed as if it was, i was simply adding a comment about some buyers.
No probs.sunnysea83 wrote: »maybe the seller has been at work all day and then had other things to do after work! not everyones life revolves around ebay.
I do realise that sellers don't sit at their computers 24/7- I did state this in my original post. It's common courtesy to answer questions from potential customers and I think five hours is more than enough time to wait, particularly when the auction is almost over.0 -

You sound like a great seller! What it comes down to is that the description wasn't sufficient in the first place- if it was a concise, well written description then I would have had no need to send the seller a message at all.MacsReturns wrote: »Is it a business or private seller? A private seller. As I said in an earlier post, there are many bad buyers as well as bad sellers, it's just the way it goes. I would never bombard someone with messages as it appears people have done to you.0 -
If they don't answer your questions don't give them your business0
