Right, after the last hiccup where I posted September's comp by mistake, I'm pleased to say this really is October's!
You'll need to click on the puzzle to enlarge.
Help please - I'm rubbish at these things!

Hi, sorry. I have noticed its a bit tempermental. If you are getting the 'operation aborted' essage, I usually get round this by stripping back the URL to shilling.co.uk then clicking thru to the comp on the home page

I can open it but can't for the life of me work it out. I can't fathom the clue either! Thanks to all posters and contributers :beer:0

Could it be "5"? The gap between A and B is 3; the gap between B and C is 5; so the gap between C and D could be 7, which would have the hand pointing at number 5.0

not very good at puzzles but could it be 12?
there is 2hrs 20mins between clock a and clock b
there is 5 hours between clock b and c
I have totally confused myself now sorryIf at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

Could this be it: Looking a where the fingers point on each clock
a) 2 plus 4 is 6
b) 5 plus 7 is 12
c) 8 plus 10 is 18
D) would be 12 as 12 plus 12 is 24
All muliples of 6 and the clue "Time isn't on your side" meaning it's nothing to do with time.0 -
The answer is two. The minute hand is always 2 behind the hour hand -> hour hand must be on two.0

In A & B the minute hand is 2 in FRONT of the hour hand but two BEHIND in C.0 -
I'm liking Tinabe's answer, sounds very plausible to me. I spent ages working out lines of symmetry and reflections and didnt get anything too conclusive. Think I will go with 12.Thanks to all posters and contributers :beer:0
