Thanks Rosie, I think I'll just use it up in a cake or make scones. And buy block marg in future. I'm interested in the vegetarian Trexx as I'm trying to use fewer animal products. Off to google it now!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

Well Bronnie - thanks for clearing up that mystery! It's back to the block for me. Butter is my favourite but it's too dear to use it all the time. I always use butter for spreading and sometimes for baking.

Well Bronnie, thank you, you learn something new everyday. I shall use block marg for my mince pies @ Christmas.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

Any chance someone could point me in the direction of the recipe for these home made hob nobs please? :D DH is a big hob nob fan.

Funny enough I've never used anything but block margarine or butter for cooking, my mum always used blocks of Stork or Echo and I suppose I just got in the habit from watching her. I'll have to have a go at making something with the tub stuff and see how it turns out and if there's any difference.

Here's the thread. I can highly recommend them. As well as the basic recipe, lots of people have variations which I must get around to trying. Hope you and DH enjoy them!

I've always used Vitalite as it is a dairy-free margerine - and it is quite soft - but the hobnobs always come out fine here - there's never any left in the tin, anyway!! Not sure what went wrong for you.

I think it's just my lack of culinary expertise.:o I'll just go back to what worked. They are so yummy!
I didn't know Vitalite is dairy-free. My friend's Mum always used it in sambos and I really liked it. Is it suitable for vegans? I'm not vegan myself but trying to incorporate it into my life bit by bit.
