faulty parking payment machine

I am so cross.

My daughter parked up in a car park, went to the machine with her friend, only had one £1 coin so borrowed another from her friend.

When she got back to the car she had a parking ticket...............the machine had only printed out a ticket for 40 pence but had taken her £2.

She appealed it but was turned down, the council said the onus is on her to check the ticket (I know I never do that) and she paid up as she was going on holiday and did not have time to write again before she went, thinking she could sort it out when she got back.

I now read on this website that you cannot appeal if you had paid up!!!!!!

Has anyone ever put an appeal in after paying up and succeeded?

ps have just read on the letter from the council that you cannot appeal after payment.

Sooo annoying.

It's the same rule when you get any ticket for anything (theatre/train/receipt etc etc). It's up to you to check it! Be a good parent and teach your daughter this rule!

Methinks she has learnt her lesson without me having to tell her. Hope so anyway.
