Changing Supplier, is this normaL
I am in the process of changing energy supplier, I filled in the relevant details i.e. address and former company, for the new company. I received an email confirming my details, but I noticed that they KNEW my bank! I most DEFINATELY did NOT give them these details, so the only other thing I can think of is that my existing utility company passed over my details. Is this normal? surely that cannot be?

No they will not have passed on these details. Did you use to be supplied by the one that you are changing to? Are you sure you did not give your sort code and account number?0

Surely when you want to change supplier they ask for your bank details etc and how you are going to pay them.0

For example Southern, Scotish, Atlantic and EBICo all have a common data base0 -
Was it that you entered your sort-code and they pulled the bank name from that? It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Thanks for the replies, and no, I certainly didn't give my sort code, name of bank or any other details to the new company. I am only in the very early stages of changing, and would have expected to give all my bank details at a later stage.
I find this all a bit worrying and need to get to the bottom of it.When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -

Which company are you switching from and which company are you switching to?0 -
You could also just ask them where they got your details from.0

I just this morning changed supplier and had to give my bank details before the process begins.0
