Hi
I have a 51 plated Matiz and have owned it since 2003, I don't do many miles (probably about 3K per year) I do very short journeys, but not short enough to walk!
I have some money and can afford to change my car, I just don't know what to go for!
I do love my Matiz and have thought about getting the 1.0 model (would like a little more acceleration on hills!) but I have noticed there are lots of little cars around these days but have no idea which one.
I like the nippiness of the matz, the 4 doors and the high driving position, bearing this in mind can anyone tell me their opinions on any of the other small cars around please, and whether you actually own one and would you buy it again?

My wife has a 1.3GL Suzuki Swift and it's a great car. It's got five doors, looks great and the 1.3 engine haas 90 bhp so it's nice and nippy. I'd highly recommend one. Other than that how about a Fiat Panda? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
The 1.0 matiz has expensive road tax too (£150/£155) for a post 01 plate.
I like the fiat panda idea above, and the new suzuki swift.0 -
If I was you I wouldn't change your car as long as it is proving reliable.
I've had a new Mazda2 for a month now and it seems very pleasant.0 -
I have just ordered an hyundai i10 comfort, just under £6k after scrappage, its 4 door, has air con, remote central locking, electric windows and mirrors, amongst other things. I took it out for a test drive and was really impressed with the 'nippyness' everything about it exceeded my expectation!.
I'm sure you would be able to haggle with price if you are not going for the scrappage scheme.
Along with the low road tax, 5 yr warranty, and low fuel consumption, it is ideal for me to replace my 15yr old Fiesta that I have owned for the last 12 yrs and paid £6k for in 1997. (Doesn't it show how car prices have come down). I do a similar mileage to you, and intend to keep my new car for at least 10 yrs.
It must be worth you taking a look!0 -
burnsguitarman I have just had a look at the Hyundai, it looks very nice, I hadn't even thought of one.0

I've also been looking at the i10. Got to take DH & DD to check everyone will fit in comfortably before making a decision!Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0

Isn't there still a ridiculous waiting list for the i10 that runs in to months, or has that been sorted now?0
-
There is a waiting list for some models/colours. I ordered mine from Hatfields Bury. There were 2 colours I could have now, the red comfort model I have chosen will be Oct/Nov, others were Jan. I think it depends on dealers allocation, as another dealer quoted me Jan for mine0

Why would someone who owns a car already but barely uses it want to spend money on a new car.
Any car will be an upgrade from a Matiz anyway. I'll sell you a shopping trolley for a fiver.0 -
Matiz is a great car! I loved it when we bought them in! They were such a laugh to drive! Brand new tyres were ten quid! They did have fuel pump issues though. But apart from that they were brilliant!
OP have you thought about the Dyshatsu Sirion? Based on the Yaris so reliable!0
