Hi, take a look at the thread on here for the Oil Cleansing Method, sounds strange but has worked miracles on my oily spot prone skin and is super cheap:)

Liz Earle is great stuff, I stock up on it when it's reduced! The rest of the time though I use anything that has tree tea oil- it works wonders for oily skin. I tend to save the Liz Earle for when my skin is being a nightmare and needs a miracle.

I also love the Simple range but as that can be a bit pricey I tend to just buy their toner and apply that after washing my face with a basic tree tea face wash. It makes a real difference and as you only need a dab it lasts a long time.

I think castor oil is only a problem if you take it internally while your pregnant, I bought mine in Lloyds and they asked me what I'm using it for when I said as a cleanser they said that was quite a common use, there is a page on the thread that says one poster put it in the bath (or something like that) and got a bad belly :confused:so not sure if you would want to chance it or if she was just really unlucky. I know everyone is different but Simple products for me made my skin so much worse I cant tell you, if you want to wait until you are not pregnant to try the ocm in the meantime I would recommend Freederm products, they wont really make your skin less oily but the condition and spots will improve greatly especially if you use the gel everyday, the gel was a life saver for me before I tried the ocm something else I recommend if you find your make up is sliding off during the day is No 7 make up base in a white tube also works wonders - hth:)

    I second Liz Earle's stuff.

I found that many 'oil minimising' products actually made my skin worse as they were too harsh. I used to use Clean and Clear, which worked at first but then made my skin look as if I'd smeared lard on it.

    I use this: http://www.moosie.co.uk/soaps/savdemars.asp

I know it sounds a bit mad but it doesn't irritate and dry out my skin totally like ordinary soap does. My pores have closed up and is nice and soft without being greasy. A cube of it lasts for ages too. :)

  • The best spot cream for me is Quinoderm.
It was recommended to me by the chemist years ago. It is very strong and gets rid of spots very quickly.

I've tried so many different cleansers etc to try and sort out my oily/ spot prone skin! At the moment I'm using Morrissons own brand face wipes- the ones in the green package that contain cucumber. They're really soothing and I've found they reduce the red/angry spots quite well. Really cheap too- about 80p for a packet. I always stock up as they tend to sell out quickly. Hope nobody from Morrissons H/O reads this forum or they'll be £3.99 a pack by next week lol!

I would definitely recommend that anyone who has the red and angry problem (cystic type) gives them a try :)

i also found that using products for spotty skin actually made my skin worse. I have spots but my skin is dry also. I've also never got on with the simple range apart from the eye remover, i don't actually think the range is that simple in terms of ingredients a bit misleading. I found clinique do a moisturiser with spf 25 thats for dry combination skin, superdefense its called. I did try cleansing with almond oil it made my skin so soft but after a few times i got red painful spots that never came to a head. I've now been using liz earle for about a year and its the best, did get a few spots when i fell pregnant but all is calm again. Get yourself a trial size and you'll never look back, liz really should give me a discount i keep recommending her cleanse and polish.
