Help! Ipod Touch Email Settings for Orange (Freeserve/Wanadoo)

Can anyone help me with how to set up my daughters iPod Touch with email settings? We have an old Freeserve email address (fsnet.co.uk). I have tried typing in the exact settings from our email account:

Incoming Server: pop.orangehome.co.uk
Outgoing Server: smtp.wanadoo.co.uk

Doesn't work. I have tried Outgoing Servers smtp.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orange.net but still nothing.

The best I have got so far is when syncing the email account details when syncing the iPod Touch but this results in the Touch being able to receive emails but can't send them and our Mac being able to send but not receive emails. If I delete the account from the iPod Touch, our email on the Mac reverts to working again.

Any help would be great as it's driving me mad!

Thanks

This isn't really a solution to your immediate problem, but why not sign her up for another email address (such as Google Mail)?
  • on the ipod try;

    pop.wanadoo.co.uk
    smtp.wanadoo.co.uk

    or

    incoming :- pop.orangehome.co.uk
    outgoing :- smtp.orangehome.co.uk

basicly the 2 servers should be the same apart from the pop and smtp.

I think I may have to go for the other email option as I've tried what seems like all possibilities. I'm sure it is something simple but I think having the old freeserve address throws the spanner in the works a bit. I have an email in to Orange in the hope that they can help but haven't heard anything back. I will post if I have any joy.

The response from Orange was as expected (not helpful!):

    Thank you for your email.

    We understand your concern.

At present Orange cannot provide any technical support for iPod Touch.

If you are experiencing issues with the same contact either the manufacturer or your vendor.

If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in contact with us again.

    Kind Regards,

    Broadband Support

I guess I will find out eventually once they are up and running with the iPhone.

Well in that case, take your business elsewhere.

It's very easy to setup Google Mail on your iPod Touch, and they provide ample instructions:
