Alton Towers - Drop Off?

Promised I'd give my daughter and friends a ride to AT, and plan to fetch them after they've had a full day there.
Anyone know if you can drop off people without being trapped into paying £5 parking?
If there is a drop off point is it easy to find?

Err I'd drop them outside of the premium parking bit (to avoid having to use the monorail). Don't know if there's an official area as such. If it's a week day it's unlikely to be very busy......0

Can you get to the premium parking area without actually entering a car park?0 -
Well you turn off the (public) road then drive for about a mile to the normal parking (where you need to pay £5), the Premium parking is about 1/4 mile from the road. Simply turn towards the premium parking (but not into) drop off and drive off.
Find it in Google Maps to get an idea......0 -
There's a lay by near to the main entrance that you can drop them off, it's quite easy to spot so I'm sure you'll have no problems0

Agreed- there is a big sign saying drop off- it's a little lay by close to the entrance0

Agree about drop off/pick up layby but (addmitedly a couple of years ago) I drove into the car park about 10 a.m. and the let me drop off and drive about without paying anything.0

£5 parking?
I think you mean £10 'normal' parking or £15 express parking :eek:0
