What about joining a church/mosque? I just joined a church and have found the people there to be very friendly and welcoming.0

Hi
Just wondered if there's anyone on here from Nottingham with any ideas?
I moved over here to live with my partner but would like to make some girlie friends to meet for coffee, shopping etc.
If I search the internet - I only get dating agencies and as I have already got a partner - I'm not looking for a fella - I am just looking for new friends.
Any ideas??
Thanks
If you get a myspace profile you can search for people in your area who want to be friends. I know myspace is a bit out of date but it is an option! The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. I moved up to Nottingham for my partner 5 months ago as well but not had much luck in meeting people as I don't start a job until next week. Feel free to IM me if you're still looking for a girlie coffee buddy, would be lovely to meet people as I've not found social networking particularly helpful.0

i'm a fella [last i looked anyway] and can recommend MEETUP highly. free to join and cracking people= diverse, non-judgemental and not on the ''look-out''.
also volunteered for long time for notts wildlife trust and thoroughly enjoyed. great exercise, rewarding and mostly younger people.remember always -'' life shrinks or expands in proportion to ones courage''0 -
I used to live in Nottingham, many moons ago!
I was a student so had no trouble meeting new people. Could you do a part time course? Or perhaps volunteer somewhere? Volunteer type places could be with Trent and Peak archaeology (used to be based at the Uni, presumably still are), museums, churches, schools and so on.
Things that got me out and about was that I was a church bellringer and used to play the violin and piano so I could play for a choir or be in an orchestra (perhaps you could sing in a choir?)
I'm a devout atheist but I can see that joining your local church/mosque would be a good idea!
This thread has really taken my mind back. I lived in Beeston for a year then spent 2 years in Dunkirk. Then I popped up to Nottingham every Thursday for 2 years to do my MA! I do miss it, even 10 years on :-(0
