Denby pottery losing its glaze - is the dishwasher to blame?

The plates in our Denby dinner service are losing their glaze. As we've had it for about 8 years now I would expect some wear and tear but wonder whether the harshness of the tablet in the dishwasher is partly to blame. We have used various brands over the years and are not sure whether one brand is better than another. The interior surfaces of the beakers on the other hand, which are the same age, seem to have fared much better so we're at a loss to know exactly what is causing the problem.

had the same problem myself I had a
Marimiko set the mugs, cereal bowls cups& saucers
are fine but the dinner plates and side plates
    have not faired so well.

Quite surprising I sold it all on ebay for mega
amounts far more than I paid for it even the
faded plates sold.Kept two of the mugs as
they are so pretty,if anyone else has their
chrsyanthium design its is no longer made
and is very popular.Sold mine piece by piece

I wondered if its because we use knives and forks
piping hot food is placed on them

It's almost definitely the dishwasher. My mother admired some of my mugs a few years ago, and I bought her the same ones. She washes up by hand, and the difference now between her mugs and my mugs is sobering.

I'm beginning to convince myself it could be the dishwasher tablets. Can anybody suggest an alternative. I'm wondering if putting a good slug of Fairy Liquid in the container which holds the tablet would be a less harsh option. Don't fancy going back to washing everything by hand.

Plates suffer from minute cutlery scratches from knives and fork tines, so it could be a combination of scratches and dishwasher tablets.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I have had my denby mugs for about 15 - 16 years and they are fine and have been washed in the dishwasher for ever. Used all different types of dishwasher tablets over the years. Maybe its the acidity in your water, do you need more salt or rinse aid.
A lot of people just rely on these 2 in or 3 in one tabs when really you should use salt and rinse aid.
