If you HAVE failed to maintain it, you'll be fully liable for all losses.
the point I was trying to make was the wording is extremely loose - as it stands if you get a trojan or any nasty then you have failed to keep your computer secure
if your firewall or anti-virus fails your have failed to keep your computer secure
T&Cs like this are written to make life easy for the banks and BSs - they should be avoided.
However, I really doubt these Ts & Cs are designed to catch you out - I think you're reading the wording too literally. The thing is, the vast majority of people aren't security experts, they're not trained and the most they can reasonably be expected to do is follow best practice guidelines; the sort all banks put on their FAQ pages- install a firewall and antivirus
- keep them and your operating system/software patched and up to date
- use common sense and don't open/reply to suspicious emails (using the same criteria you'd use to decide if a door caller was suspicious)
- use strong, non-dictionary passwords, keep them unique and change them regularly
I think the majority of people would be able to claim they took precautions to the best of their knowledge, no matter how basic. I think the argument would come down to whether they were unduly careless, based on the general advice given above and stated on most e-commerce and e-banking sites. You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
Talking about being careful with security details...
The number of people I see in front of me, entering their pin number into shop card readers for all to see. Not trying to hide their number what so ever. It never ceases to amaze me.0 -
yes, some people will always think it's only going to happen to someone else. Personally, I don't believe in luck. You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0
