Hire Purcahse - Returning Vehicle

Hi,
I have not been on here in a while and have forgotten my username and password.
I was wondering if someone could help me.
I took out a car over a 5yr hire purchase agreement two years ago.
The contract stated at the half way point through the agreement I can exercise my right to voluntary terminate the contract. In doing so i have to return the car.

Now i would like to be able to do this now some 6 Month before my due date for a number of reasons. I could do with the monthly money, I am not using the car as much and i have been tipped off by a mechanic friend that its starting to show early signes of a major engine problem.

So rather than it cost me a fortune in the long run, how do i go about getting rid of the car now? is it as simple as paying upto the half way point and then asking for temination??

Regards

I presume they will not take it back if they spot the engine fault, does it have any warranty left?
  • They wouldn't notice the fault with the engine its that minor at the moment.

The car is a SEAT and its 4 years old. I can only think it would be fine if it was a Honda!
  • My half way point is further away than i thought.. never again!

Hi Chrisash, how come you can't get rid of it, I did this a few years ago and didn't really have any hassle, I think it may depend on the finance company, the reason I ask is I am about to buy a car on HP over 5 years but knowing me I may want to change in about 3-4 years.
