I have been getting pestered by a company calling me up to six times a day - when I answer they say " Can I ask you who you have your landline with?" I dont feel at all comfortable speaking to these people as I am exdirectory. Ive asked them to remove my number but they say I must tell them who my landline is with! On caller display it comes up with "Private" so I cant block them. All I have been able to get out of them is that they are a company(?) called UK Brands Measurement.
Has anyone else had this and can I do anything about it? Id appreciate any advice

blow a whistle down the phone... lol... to be fair its really annoying I generally hang up on sales calls... my dad has a novel way of dealing with them he asks them to wait a moment and puts them on hold while he goes off to make a cup of tea and watch TV... surprisingly once they hang up they don't seem to ring back... I take you've gone on-line and registered with TPS?I have been getting pestered by a company calling me up to six times a day - when I answer they say " Can I ask you who you have your landline with?" Tell them to f*** off... start screaming down the phone going wild at them... Keep doing it every time they ring they should soon stop. Or play along and give them false information... keep them on the phone for over an hour whilst you distract them from their job... then mysteriously change your mind before giving any information.0

Waste their time. It is of course a waste of your time, but once the operatives get the idea you will waste their time, they will know that they cannot meet targets by phoning you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Tell them to FU** OFF. VERY loudly.
My Panasonic phones block most things but if someone manages to get through I -not very politely- say HOW THE FU** DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER? I used to be much more polite but gave up on it. I think I've only had this happen twice in 2 years and both times it was a fairly local company selling some crap. They were shocked and apologised.
Since our phone companies allow this spam through it's about time we started taking as much control of our phone lines as possible. I'm pretty good with my Panasonic phones (it block numbers) but "Private" or "Unavailable" can get through this system as it may well get through anonymous caller reject type [paid for] systems. With the tech that's available nowadays we should be able to block anything. You can with email.
Everyone (MPs, BT employees etc etc) must get these crap calls so the only reason for not giving us a tru blocking service is ££££s. The phone companies make money from this spam.0
