Boiler Advice Needed

My 2 year old Ideal condensor combi boiler stopped working on Friday so have no heating or water at the moment. The boiler engineer was supposed to come after 10am on Saturday but didnt turn up or respond to calls. A second engineer was supposed to come today, but again has failed to show.
The boiler, which is situated on the 1st floor, shows no lights on the LCD screen and the thermostat, which is situated on the ground floor, also shows no lights. From this I am assuming it is not in fact the boiler, but the electrics that are at fault. I have checked the main circuit board and that is not showing any issues and have also checked the fuse on the isolator switch. Anyone have any ideas what it might be and where I might find a decent engineer who will actually come when they promise?
Against my better judgement I tried NPower, but they want £230 just to come out. Any advice welcome, thanks.
Edit- Sorry should have placed this in different section!

Find out if your local authority has a trusted trader scheme and if they have try one of those plumbers.
You could try British Gas, or even Ideal standard.

Still cold, dirty and waiting for Engineer Number 3 to 'check his diary'!
Electrician came this morning, checked all the electrics, charged me, but said it definitely wasn't the electrics!
Tried a system reset but still no luck. No, I shall just sit here and be a martyr waiting for the elusive engineer to get back to me!

Take out a service contract with British Gas then ring them in a few days.

I think when you take out one of these service contracts before they accept you they want to come out everything is working ok.
At the very least tthey will have some sort of delay built into the contract, whereby you can't claim for the first month or two.

Surely it,s still under warrantee, 2 years old? EU law, not UK law. Ideal good for honouring their warrantees I have found
