Yotel Gatwick. Prebook or chance?

Landing back at Gatwick at 9.00am on a wednesday morning in December. Would love to sleep on the plane but have never managed to before. So has anyone used Yotel without prebooking?
If I do book I will probably sleep on the plane and then will just want to drive home. But if i don't is there a big chance of it being full?

I would never rely on being able to sleep on the plane. Much safer to get some rest before driving. I have to admit that years ago I used to come back from long haul flights including NZ and Australia and then drive home to Newcastle. I now think that was stupid as I did have the occasional close call and if you did cause an accident due to lack of sleep I presume you would be held responsible for it and could even end up in jail. These days I always make sure I book a hotel or flights back to Newcastle. Do you have far to drive?0 -
IMO you should pre book, the price remains the same regardless and you have peace of mind... i've witnessed people being turned away or told they only have the premium cabins available.
Enjoy your trip!"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0 -
If Yotel is full get on-line and book one of the other airport hotels. Personally I'd do priceline at about £35 on a choose your own price.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I was not planning on driving home tired. We live in North Norfolk and the drive is not great. (3 hours but smallish roads in norfolk.)
I was asking the question in a MSE way. Don't want to waste money prebooking if I don't have to.0 -

Sorry I wasn't suggesting you would. I normally pre-book airport hotels through holidayextras who tend to have good deals. it is often cheaper to get a room for a night and parking than booking the parking seperate.0 -
I would just book it prior to leaving for your trip. Better to be safe than sorry.

I think part of the OP's issue is he is arriving at 9am.......most hotels will not guarantee an early check in -however some will offer day rates. Might be worth exploring that tooI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks for all the answers but I was asking in particular about Yotel at Gatwick airport. You can book it for a few hours at any time of the day or night. Thought there may be some regular users of it. Its not bookable through holiday extras, etc and I have already booked hotel & parking for the night before the trip. This is purely for a nap before driving home.0

Well, like I said..better to be safe than sorry. For 4 hrs a standard room is like £25 so you have to ask yourself is that worth it? I think so.
