I would be grateful if you could help.
50p per pack in Tesco tonight, 300g packs x 2.
I would like to do a lamb casserole in Slow cooker tomorrow, I have never cooked lamb
I have in the cupboards:
3 carrots
1 leek
veg/beef/chicken stock cubes
plenty of onions
herbs lots of them (OOD probably)
Plain/SR flour
mustard
potatos
cherry tomatos
Could any of the above make a lamb casserole.

yep they all could

chop some veg, put the lamb on top, put some stock in, maybe a few herbs (I'd add mint sauce) and away you go
you don't need to be too precise it will be lovely0 -
Yes, just chuck onion, carrots, leek and potatoes (chopped up ofc) into the slow cooker with some stock... your choice there but as lamb is a strong meat I'd use the veg cube, along with the lamb. Add whatever herbs and spices you fancy (no need to worry about the dates on them really) and away you go. If you have some cheap wine going spare then you could always add some of that too.
Casserole/stew in a slow-cooker is very easy going and is practically impossible to get wrong. If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!

thank you for this, I only have red wine, would this do?. Sorry new at this cooking from scratch, what herbs would you recommend? Would cornflour at the end thicken it enough?
What does OFC mean?

Red wine would be ideal with lamb.
I like rosemary or basil with lamb but it doesn't really matter. Its personal choice. If in doubt just bung in some mixed herbs.
I think ofc stands for "of course".
Hard veg like carrots seem to struggle to cook through in a slow cooker, even if they are in there for 12 hours so slice them pretty thin, don't just chuck in big lumps. You can be a bit more cavalier with onions and leeks, they will cook fine.
I'm not sure about potatoes. I've never cooked them in a slow cooker.
I prefer chip-pan roasties. Cut potatoes as you would for boiling, boil them in salted water for 10 minutes then fry them in the chip pan for 10 minutes.
As regards thickening, you could coat the lamb pieces in flour and brown them before putting them in the slow cooker. I don't bother. I just chuck in the raw lamb. Then about a hour before I want to eat I mix some corn flour with a small amount of cold water (in an egg cup) and pour that in whilst stirring the casserole.0 -
