I hope it’s alright to post a new thread and that I have posted it in the right place!
I love Craftfairy’s idea for Santa Kisses (see her thread)
I make similar bags and jars and I thought there must be lots of other ideas out there that we could share especially with Christmas coming up.
First I thought I would leave instructions on how to make the bags, they are so simple.
I tend to use a narrow cello bags (the type cardmakers use), I do have to cut about 2ins off the top as I have not yet found the perfect sized bag for this project yet.
Add chosen sweet to the bag
Fold over the top of the cello bag and secure with tape or a staple.
The bag topper is made from a rectangle of card, a little wider than the cello bag, folded in half and decorated to go with your theme. This is secured by double sideded tape on both sides of the inside of the topper.
If you are a keen crafter you may have a set of nestabilities label dies that make a fancier topper.
The idea of the sweetie bags can be expanded to small jars – I have just posted a jar of Jingle Beans using small jars I found in Poundland – they come in a set of 3, so that’s 33p each – search Google for
I will now set the ball rolling with ideas to use in these bags/jars
Sweets - I hope I can mention shop names here
M&S, Poundland & Poundworld to name but a few have foil wrapped Halloween sweets
M&S have nets of chocolate Santas – 5 for 4 – 10 in a net 99p each
WS Smith & Thorntons have jelly teeth, lips and hearts and foam bananas in pic n mix
Thorntons have foil wrapped chocolate footballs
Home Bargains have chocolate coins
Themes and/or Wording for Toppers/Jar Labels
· Jelly Hearts – with love, With love at Christmas, With love on your B’day
· Foam bananas – for Little Monkeys
· Smarties – For a Little Smartie- for after exam results come out/Gruduations
· Chocolate Nibs – for assorted poop – i.e reindeer
· BonBons – snowballs
Has anyone got any other ideas

wow Helen, those jars are lovely!! I've got to go to Poundland and get some of those, they would be brilliant for my craft fair in November! Whereabouts in the shop were they? and roughly how big are they?
As for sweetie ideas, I'm in the process of making Snowman Poop (mini marshmallows), Reindeer Poop (chocolate raisins), Snowman Kisses (mint imperials) Santa Kisses (jelly beans). I also wanted to make Spare Rudolph Noses but cannot find any plain red round sweets in a big enough quantity. (if only Smarties did a big tube of red ones like they do with the pink ones!)
Yesterday I made some little sweetie boxes up to sell which consist of a mini chinese takeaway style box filled with little haribo packets, chews, drumstick lollies etc, I'll post a picture when they are finished.
I'm also working on a top secret idea which I will share with you all in a few weeks (as I don't know how they will turn out yet)!!You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
There;s no ending to what you can do with a jar is there.
I'm doing pots of snowballs -some wiill have bon bons (or marshmallows if I can get some without the pink in the bag) in them and some bath bombs
A triangular shaped jar I've stuck christmas tree embellishments on and going to fill it with gold, red and green wrapped sweets or chocoates and I've done four jars with a 'bar humbug' label and filled them with humbugs.
Also doing a very small jar of reindeer poo for little grandson -chocolate buttons for than one I think.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

The jars are in the home section of Poundland with the tea towels and home items.
IKea do similar but are obviously more expensive.
I can't really help with designing labels - you can look on crafters blogs for ideas or in Google images enter little sweetie bags and a pic of my halloween bags will come up as well as a couple of other blogs0 -
The jars are branded "Home etc" - they are 3 ins tall and about 2 and half ins wide.0

Love the idea of the jars - used kilner jars last year but like the smaller size of these jars. Must find out if we have a poundland in Portsmouth??? Can I ask is that your handwriting on the labels or a font - if so do you know where I can download it from. Thanks Louise0

Also think your labels are fab, is it a computer font. do u use a template?

The writing on the jar is in my own fair hand!
The font on the tag is a free download from 2peasinabucket.com
You have to register on the site.
To find the font -
click on DIGITAL in menu bar
Click Digital Shopping
Click Free Fonts
The font is called Goofball
The other free fonts are very good as well if you like a quirky uneven font

If youre going to someone elses for tea or doing homemade goodies to eat not to far in advance you could make some of these cupcakes in a jar or layered cake/cookie mix in a jar (which was a nescafe one originally!)...attach a little tag with the instructions on the back and all the recipient needs to do is add milk and egg (or water)
