Hello All
Sorry I have never had to deal with the benefits system so need your burley advice!
My brother is currently received Income Support £52.25 every 2 weeks and has just been awarded DLA low rate care at £18.75.
This totals £42.70 per week.
I went to the local council and they have now awarded him housing benefit aswell which is great.
But my question is - Is he claiming the right thing as the Income Support only equates to £26.00 per week?
He suffers from alcoholism, Bi-Polar and a lot of mental health issues - he has been sober for 1 year and I am trying to really help him stay sober and keep himself on track.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Income support should be £64 a week plus a dissability premium of £23.0

How old is he? Are you sure he is not receiving IB as well?
Does he have an award letter? This should breakdown how they have reached this amount.Gone ... or have I?0 -
No he isn't receiving IB - I would probably understand if he was.
He is 44 this month!
He has a letter which states that they will pay the £54 into his account every 2 weeks.
I know he hasn't been keeping up with his post so could it have been cancelled?
I really appreciate your help xTotal Quidco earnings - £547.98

It doesn't sound like anything has been cancelled, as the amount mentioned would not even related to a sanctioned/ hardship rate.
Does the letter give a breakdown of how they reach the final figure?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I dont understand why he is not receiving IB or ESA or unemployment benefit.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
