I have a problem with my front passenger door lock. A friend has had a look at it and he needs to take it out as the central locking is defective. It appears to need a special tool to take out the fixing bolts. He has tried normal torque bits but they do not seem to work. Does anyone know if there is special tool and where I can get one?

is it a spline headed bolt? or maybe a security torx with the hole in it?

if you can grab it with vice grips or hammer a screwdriver into it then thats what i would do if i were stuck.

The only thing I can remember ever going wrong on the Fabias in my extended family is central locking.
I have a vague recollection of a special tool being mentioned that you might need to get from the Skoda dealer.
I think it cost about £80 at the Skoda dealer to get this job done, but cannot be sure. Worth paying for the conveniance?

If he means a special tool he probably means a manufacturer specific piece of equipment .

They make hundreds of the things and having them all is a requirement for a dealer in order to be part of the franchise.

Often there is a generic which will do the job (ie a screwdriver, or my personal favorite 'the wire coathanger special tool').

Am guessing in this case its one of those thats used fairly often and the dealer will have.

A trip round there with a bottle of wine (and an order for the parts he needs for the parts counter) may get you their assistance with the special tool.

No point buying it for a one off job.
