Potato recipes

Options
Found this link on the freebie forum, the British Potato Council are giving away a load of freebies such as recipe cards and a calendar. Also on the site are lots of potato recipes and as I now have a sack of spuds and they make a cheap meal I thought someone might be interested in some of the recipes.

  • I make a soup with a few potatoes just boiled in water with a stock cube, an onion, a good pinch of mixed herbs and a big clove of garlic, liquidised with enough milk to give it the right consistency, then reheated. Lovely with bread and cheese.

    Thank you, much appreciated!

I've ordered my Freebies - I have three adult kids who could do with these ... yuppers, definately stocking stuffers for Christmas 2005 - 'cept the calendar, I'll give them that when it arrives ;)

On average - how much do you all pay for 52lb of spuds?
(I know some of you can only get your spuds from supermarkets, but, please do work it out - I buy 52lb for a fiver from a farm shop. )

At the moment I buy a 12.5kg bag from Tesco which is £3.85.

1 kg is 2.20lb so 12.5kg is 27.5lbs (I think!) So for half the amount you buy I pay 3.85.

I cant seem to find a farm near Bristol that sells them.

I got a big sack of spuds - 52lb is a standard size i presume, it was about 4.50
I asked someone with a car to get me a bag and they wouldnt let me pay for them ;D double money saving.
It drives me crazy when you see neat packaged trays of two 'baking potatoes' in some shops. WHY do people buy them!?
We have had roast, mash, chips, chick pea and potato curry, potato and sweetcorn soup, carrot cheese and potato mash, garlic potatoes, baked potatoes... and there is still a load left.
