Hills is fine and if your pup is thriving, then its good for your pup so keep the status quo.
Thats the benchmark on all processed foods - how your dog does. Shiney coat, bright eyes, bundle of life and producing small solid poos is what you are aiming for, If you arent getting that then change - gradually0 -
Daisy is happy on her food , just wondered what everyone thought of Hill's really . Not got a problem with paying out for her food , even though inital outlay is "big" once you break it down how long a bag can last it works out to be rather good value for money I think .Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

Cost per meal is how you work out the cost of a feed, Some foods are a lot lot cheaper but you have to feed twice as much. The food I buy around 34 quid for 15kg but works out to pennies a day as it lasts nearly three months0 -

You are trying to teach Grandma to suck eggs and I don't need to learn, thanks.0 -
I am not getting a puppy nor changing a puppy's diet so I am not too sure why you are telling me this. I am even more confused about your patronising tone.

...if you don't want responses, I would advise you to not post questions!
However, ultimately, it is an open forum, and I can express my view, just as you can express yours!0 -

However, in this case I specifically replied and asked a question to another poster and as anyone can read, it is relevent to their post so why you feel the need to answer me (in a patronising way) with details that were not relevent to the statement is, quite honestly, laughable.
You should express your opinion, its what the forum is for, just watch it with the patronising/high and mighty tone. It's unattractive.0 -
I welcome responses especially those that offer an interesting take on the debate.

Pot and kettle come to mind here :rolleyes:0 -
Back on topic.......
My two had Hills at first as the vet recommended it (yes they sell it and are probably sponsered!) I had a few vouchers as well which meant it was pretty good value at first.
Later on I found that the Pets at Home own brand dry food has remarkably similar ingredients so I alternated between that and Hills depending on the special offers. Pets at home often do three for two offers on Hills, add in a voucher and it's well worth it.
One of my dogs has developed a skin allergy now so after trial and error we have found James Wellbeloved fish and rice seems to cause less problems.
Talking about pet food on here seems to be a minefield as people have strong opinions!
My advice is to not change puppies food at moment. If when you do change read the ingredients and avoid artificial colouring and flavouring.
After that it's really personal preference.
Lovely puppy by the way, very similar to the cavalier I had for 14 happy years.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
Hill's is ok but don't use it myself, I find it's expensive & doesn't offer anything extra for the premium price.
If your dogs happy then carry onAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

I would give this a go for a week or 2 before thinking about changing his food.0
