Firefox: Window resizing issue

This is the second time I've had this issue, I did know the solution but it was over a year ago and I can't find it now.
Not sure if it will matter but this concerns Firefox 2.20.0 I think it shouldn't matter though
Anyway, sometimes when I click a link it will open in a new window when this new window opens it always used to open in a minmized state, basically it opened as a small window roughly a quarter the size of a maximized window. This is exactly how I wanted it, and it was great. Recently it's started reverted back to opening these windows maximized, which is really annoying. How can I get it to save the state of the newly open window(s) in a smaller size, like it used to?

Probably better to upgrade to FF 3.5 and have it open new windows in a new tab.0

I have 3.5.2, using it right now. I have 2.20 for a very good reason, needless to say I can't upgrade it.0 -
Why can't you upgrade it?antispam246 wrote: »I have 2.20 for a very good reason, needless to say I can't upgrade it.0 -

Depends what you mean. Technically I can, I could upgrade it. I don't want to though. It's the last version that is compatible and 100% stable with a few add-ons I frequently use.0 -

You are using a very old version of Firefox which has security problems. Might be better to update to the latest version here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html.
With the latest version you will get much better performance and security. It might even resolve your window resizing issue.0 -
Which add-ons are giving you trouble? We may be able to find alternatives.antispam246 wrote: »It's the last version that is compatible and 100% stable with a few add-ons I frequently use.0 -

Sorry, don't mean to come across as rude, but I just want to be blunt now. I don't want to upgrade. I have multiple profiles spread across 3 different firefox installations, all different versions. I use 3.5.2 as my main browser for general activity. I use 2.20 for other purposes which are no longer supported in future editions. There is no alternative, I've researched extensively, and where there is, it's inferior to using what I need on 2.20
I don't have any trouble with add-ons they work perfectly in 2.20 and because of the extensive complex nature of my profile set up it is far more easier and logically better to stay with 2.20 for it.
My problem does not warrant changing everything I would have to upon updating the browser to merely fix an issue with resizing a window.
I think the java solution has worked. Some of the windows are retaining the correct size now, I think I just have to manually resize the others so they fix it place.
Thank you peeps, sorry if I came across as rude but I really have absolutely on need to go down the path of upgrading 2.20. I alreayd have the latest firefox and I use multiple versions for my own reasons that do not need nor warrant upgrading. Otherwise I'd just use the 3.5.2 version I already have.0
